Barry Stewart is the driving force behind Barry Stewart Builders. With a hands-on approach and over three decades of experience in the building industry, Barry has cemented his reputation as a trusted name in construction throughout the southern regions of New Zealand.
Since 1982, Barry has been at the helm of Barry Stewart Builders, overseeing everything from project management to tendering and costing. His extensive knowledge spans various building projects, including residential homes, commercial spaces, and complex infrastructure. Barry’s hands-on involvement ensures that every project meets the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
His leadership and dedication continue to set the benchmark in the construction industry, making Barry Stewart Builders a name known for their reliability and excellence.

We love building, but here at Barry Stewart, we also offer several other services.
We build everything from garden sheds and residential homes to retail and commercial projects - and have a solid reputation for our civil infrastructure work. As experienced, licensed and registered Master Builders, we take quality seriously, so you’ll have peace of mind with the 10-year Master Build guarantee.
We offer an in-house custom design service for residential and commercial projects with our in-house architectural designers, who liaise with you from start to finish. Our design-build wraparound services include budgets and documentation, building consent applications and processes, and resource consents, including planning, research and drawings.
We can price and build your new home from your own plan, create a plan with our in-house design team, customise your ideal home from our 60+ available floor plans, and renovate or repair your existing home. We’re also certified builders of Passive Houses - super energy efficient, healthy, quiet homes built using European technologies.
